About Phil

Phil’s life as an artist began in London, where he completed a part-time course at St Martin’s School of Art, before sustaining a successful career as an Art Director in the advertising industry, creating ideas for TV commercials, print and broadcast. Today, he prefers to devote his creative energies to painting.

As well as having excellent all-year round light, the landscape is

diverse and colourful with the changing seasons and weather.

As an artist, Phil considers himself lucky to live in the far west of Cornwall. As well as having excellent all-year round light, the landscape is diverse and colourful with the changing seasons and weather. He finds it a rich environmental tapestry to produce work varying from landscapes, seascapes and the people who surround him. Another of his interests is capturing the movement as an athlete is executing a dive.  The flight of the human form through the air generates great interactions of light and colour which fire his imagination. He creates his work using a pallet knife, using bold strokes and colours to unique effect.

He has had several successful exhibitions in both London and Cornwall and his most recent work can always be found during Open Studios week in Cornwall.
